What Dancehall actually is?

In Jamaica where Dancehall has been the main source of income and entertainment for many it has been around since the early days of reggae music and has stood for itself in many categories, it's based on reggae music and what people would call "ragga" music also know as Dancehall music and in this space people would explore and create exciting moments through the MC's and lyrics from the artist to arrouse the crowd which gives a big response to whatever is happening in the Dancehall wether it's dancing or a lyrical battle.

Dancehall music might be classified as a means of facing reality through music and often depicts things that happen in our everyday Jamaican society wether its injustice or lovers music. There can be music about any topic but as usual it's never to be taken seriously as it's just for entertainment purposes.

When your a Dancehall dancer the lyrics of the music is never the main reason to dance as the moves are more important to learn as a dancer than the lyrics, so wether you know what the artist is singing or not as a dancer learning the steps are your only goal, if your a dancer and your focus is what the words of the songs are then you won't be able to learn the steps and feeling of the dancing to the fullest so as a Dancehall dancer try to learn the moves than the lyrics of the songs and if you have humour you would realize that the lyrics is just for entertainment purposes

Dancehall dancers are one of a kind and always stand out in any crowd of dancers, in other words it's the unique way of self expression and feeling that comes with Dancehall which makes it so special and also meeting other Dancers and learning new moves and also being there for each other like a family.
